With respect to the academic degrees of Master and Doctor obtained abroad, and in accordance with the rulings issued by the Comptroller General of the Republic of Chile, these must be validated in Chile only when they have been granted by Free Universities, Distance Universities or entities that do not have the character of a university. Otherwise, it is enough that the accreditation is duly legalized or apostilled, as appropriate.
I do not have the final doctoral degree certificate in my possession, but I have a formal provisional certificate from the institution where I studied it. Can I apply to the contest?

In the case of doctorates obtained abroad, the respective degree diploma or certificate must be attached, duly legalized or apostilled, as appropriate. Exceptionally, candidates whose provisional certificate clearly indicates that all the requirements to apply for the Academic Degree of Doctor have been met, and that the official certificate is pending, may apply for this competition –with the commitment that if selected, the official certificate must be sent before may 31, 2023.
In what language should I submit my background information?
In Spanish or English.

Yes, as long as you apply for each position independently and meet the respective profile in each case, in accordance with the respective Bidding Terms and Conditions.
How will the competition be evaluated?
The competition is regulated by a System of Evaluation of Antecedents and Opposition (formalized by Exempt Resolution No. 04397 of December 17, 2021, see here), which is composed of the following stages:
– Evaluation of the applicant´s Academic Background
– Evaluation of Psycholaboral Interview
– Evaluation of the Personal Interview
The evaluation mechanism will be based on a structure of stages, criteria, scoring and weighting, and a minimum score must be met to advance between stages. The final weighted score will determine the construction of the short list from which the candidate selected to enter as a regular academic of the Universidad Tecnológica Metropolitana will be decided.
What kind of publications should I declare to demonstrate academic and scientific productivity?
The publications that will be evaluated in the Background Evaluation Stage are those duly indexed in WoS (ex-ISI) or Scopus and that correspond to the last 5 years (2018-2022). The following types of publications will not be considered: proceedings, reviews, conference papers, letters to the editor, errata and other related publications as determined by the Competition Committee.
If I am selected, what is the date from which the contract will be executed?
Public entities are regulated by the Administrative Statute, so contracts are not used, but rather decrees of appointments under contract. This appointment would be to start working in April or May of 2023.
Do the candidates receive feedback on the results of each stage of the application process and who will provide such communication?
According to the Competition Rules, in the development of each stage, a specific result will be generated that determines the advancement or not of a candidate to the next stage. This result will be informed within 6 working days of the evaluation of the respective stage and according to the competition calendar. Thus, each candidate will be informed if he/she advances to the next stage of the process or ends his/her participation in it, and the corresponding records will be filed.
