CALL FOR PUBLIC COMPETITION TO FILL THREE (3) FULL-TIME REGULAR ACADEMIC POSITIONS

The Universidad Tecnológica Metropolitana (UTEM) announces a public competition to fill three (3) full-time academic positions for the Universitary Institute for Research and Technology Development (UIRTD) located at Ignacio Valdivieso 2409, San Joaquín, Santiago-Chile.
1. JOB DESCRIPTION
Selected academics will be responsible for the following:
• Conduct research projects in areas related to applied research, technology transfer, and innovation.
• Prepare and publish high-quality scientific articles and disseminate research findings.
• Teach undergraduate and graduate courses, participate in academic teams and committees, and contribute to academic management.
• Supervising undergraduate and graduate theses.
• Engage in national and international research networks.
• Facilitate the transfer of technology and knowledge to the productive and social sectors.
• Organize and participate in scientific conferences, seminars, and workshops.
• Demonstrate proactivity, leadership, and the ability to work effectively in interdisciplinary teams.

2. ACADEMIC REQUIREMENTS:
2.1. Academic Position Profile 1 (1 vacancy)

Qualifications and Experience:
• Professional degree in fields related to Engineering, such as Biochemistry, Chemistry, Bioprocesses, Food Science, or related areas.
• PhD in Engineering, Food Science, or related fields.
• Proven scientific productivity, evidenced by publications in indexed journals (Web of Science) in the field of food processing across various applications.
• Minimum of 2 years of teaching experience at the undergraduate and/or graduate level.
• Evidence of at least one research grant as the principal investigator or project director from recognized national (e.g., FONDECYT de Iniciación, FONDECYT Regular, FONDEF, Milenio, FONDAP, Basal, Anillo, Proyectos CORFO, Fundación COPEC) or international funding agencies (e.g., Comisión Europea, FONCYT, CONACYT) within the past five years (2020 to present).
• Postdoctoral experience and/or international research stays of at least three months are highly desirable.
• Established national and/or international research collaborations (evidenced through joint publications, seminars, or formal research projects).
2.2. Academic Position Profile 2 (1 vacancy)

Qualifications and Experience:
• Professional degree in fields such as Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Food Science, Chemistry, or related areas.
• PhD in related fields.
• Proven scientific productivity, evidenced by publications in indexed journals (Web of Science) in water treatment engineering, with a focus on innovative solutions and treatment technologies.
• Minimum of 2 years of teaching experience at the undergraduate and/or graduate level.
• Evidence of at least one research grant as the principal investigator or project director in water treatment engineering, supported by recognized national funding agencies (e.g., FONDECYT, FONDEF, Milenio, FONDAP, Basal, Anillo, CORFO, Fundación COPEC) or international funding agencies (e.g., Comisión Europea, FONCYT, CONACYT) within the past five years (2020 to present). Experience in applied research, technology transfer, and innovation projects is desirable.
• Postdoctoral experience and/or international research stays of at least three months are highly desirable.
• Established national and/or international research collaborations (evidenced through joint publications, seminars, or formal research projects).
2.3. Academic Position Profile 3 (1 vacancy)

Qualifications and Experience:
• Professional degree in fields related to Engineering (e.g., Electronics, Electrical, Computer, Telecommunications or Automation) or related areas.
• PhD in a relevant field.
• Proven scientific productivity, evidenced by publications in indexed journals (Web of Science) in one or more of the following areas: embedded systems, nanotechnology in electronics or renewable energy applications, and/or emerging sustainable technologies (excluding areas aligned with Profiles 1 and 2). Experience in designing digital systems using embedded systems for practical solutions and/or IoT and artificial intelligence applications is highly desirable.
• Minimum of 2 years of teaching experience at the undergraduate and/or graduate level.
• Evidence of at least one research grant as the principal investigator or project director from national funding agencies (e.g., FONDECYT, FONDEF, Milenio, FONDAP, Basal, Anillo, CORFO, Fundación COPEC) or international funding agencies (e.g., Comisión Europea, FONCYT, CONACYT) within the past five years (2020 to present). Experience in applied research, technology transfer, and innovation projects is desirable.
• Postdoctoral experience and/or international research stays of at least three months are highly desirable.

RANKING AND POSSIBLE REMUNERATION GRADE
The academic ranks and corresponding grades in the Single Salary Scale available to the selected candidate for the academic position are as follows:
• Assistant Professor, associated with grades 8, 9, and 10.
• Associate Professor, associated with grades 6, 7, and 8.
• Full Professor, associated with grades 4, 5, and 6.
As a reference, the following gross monthly salaries in Chilean pesos (CLP) apply to these grades:
• Grade 4: CLP $4,026,235
• Grade 5: CLP $3,800,409
• Grade 6: CLP $3,651,809
• Grade 7: CLP $3,251,392
• Grade 8: CLP $3,071,269
• Grade 9: CLP $2,846,225
• Grade 10: CLP $2,683,879
In addition, economic incentives for scientific productivity may be available, in accordance with the current University regulations.
